Nicholas Van Woert - Program Associate

Nicholas-Van-WoertNicholas Van Woert recently returned to the United States of America after completing a dual degree master's program in conflict resolution on the Mediterranean island of Malta. At the of end of an intensive year long program he will receive an MS in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University's S-Car (The School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution) and an MA in Conflict Resolution and Mediterranean Security from The University of Malta's MEDAC (Mediterranean Diplomatic Academy). After finishing his program Nicholas has become interested in human security, equality, nationalism, identity, and soccer as a tool for social development. His master's thesis focused on what triggered violent behavior in spectators at soccer matches and how the game plays a role in the world today. Through this research Nicholas hopes to further explore the game and how it can be used in association with human security. Upon completion of his mater's experience, Nicholas has resettled to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina where he plans to explore opportunities that will challenge and develop his skills as a researcher and advocator.
