Communities without boundaries international, Inc. carried out an Introduction Nonviolence and Peace building workshop in New Delhi, India in May 2012. CWBI was at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) at the invitation of Professor Swaran Singh and the faculty of the Centre for International Politics, Organization and Disarmament (CIPOD), School of International Studies at JNU. Present at the training were students and faculty from CIPOD and members of civil society in New Delhi.
The training also marked the launch of the Youth Without Boundaries program in India. Two of our newest YWBs from India, doctoral student Zainab Akhter and Masters candidate Rishika Chauhan joined the CWBI team during the Chaos to Community™ Program in Nepal in June 2012.
CWBI and the Centre for International Politics, Organization and Disarmament (CIPOD), School of International Studies at JNU are currently working on a number of collaborative efforts, including the development of a conference on the future of peace building and nonviolence scheduled to be held in New Delhi in early 2013.
Youth Without Boundaries members, including Zainab Akhter and Rishika Chuahan have also developed peace building and development projects in their local communities. Zainab's project seeks to bridge communities in rural Ladakh and develop an education program and library for the community.
